Claire Baker
Textiles
Claire Baker is a textile designer, maker and lecturer living in the north east of England.
Claire designs for the fashion fabric industry specialising in hand embroidery and mixed media techniques, also producing her own small range of unique products. Her collections are based on a passion for sensitive imagery, vintage ephemera and perceptive colour palettes. Claire's designs are contemporary, innovative and above all, precious and delicate.
She is often inspired by past eras, old photographs, period Spanish architecture, religious icons, foreign graffiti and the idea of revelation. Robert Rauschenberg has been a major influence on her work. Claire exhibits regularly and is a member of 'designed and made'.
