Dean Cavanagh
Dean Cavanagh is an award winning screenwriter and artist who often works as a collaborator with Irvine Welsh of Trainspotting fame. He describes his prints as “Neo-Pop Art” and he has built up a growing following of collectors and fans of his limited editions.
Taking inspiration from popular culture, predominantly music and film, most of his pieces are adjusted collages of instantly recognizable images and more often than not use striking colours to accentuate the work. Cavanagh’s work is influenced by artists such as Jamie Reid, Warhol, Hipgnosis, Man Ray, Lichtenstein and the collage art of Linder and seminal punk rock band Crass.
Dean Cavanagh’s work has been exhibited in San Francisco, Chicago, New York, London and Tokyo as well as being used by various bands, DJ’s and performers in slide and light shows at venues across Europe and the US.
His limited editions tend to sell quickly and he is conscious not to produce larger runs. A few of his prints also tend to pop up in his films, TV and internet productions. Cavanagh has been invited by Christiane Kubrick to exhibit his art at this years Childwickbury Arts Fair on the Kubrick estate and he will also be showing in galleries in Manchester, London & Liverpool later in the year.
