Steven Gregory: Down To The Bone

(8 May 2008 - 19 Jun 2008)

Steven Gregory: Down To The Bone

Steven Gregory, Midnight Rambler, 2008. Human skull, Russian jet, pearls and diamond. Dimensions variable. c. Steven Gregory administered by DACS, 2008.

Opus Gallery in association with Trudie Stephensen presents: Steven Gregory "Down To The Bone"

Gregory’s work literally immortalises what we leave behind; once we cast off our mortal coil we are very much ‘Down To The Bone’ and Gregory certainly takes old bones and brings them back to life. With irony and humour the artist resurrects the dead by covering human skulls with precious and semi precious stones. Tissue and skin is replaced by jet, pearls, malachite and glass beads, where beauty spots once sat diamonds and rubies now nestle.

Collected internationally Gregory has achieved significant acclaim in both Europe and the US. His work has been exhibited alongside Francis Bacon, Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Richard Prince, the Chapman Brothers, Tracy Emin, Sarah Lucas and others.

A fully illustrated catalogue accompanies Down To The Bone, 2008.

'Down To The Bone' will be exhibited at 77 Great Titchfield Street, London, W1W 6RF.

Gallery hours, Monday to Saturday, 10am-6pm
