Abigail Fallis: Fallis in Wonderland

(6 May 2011 - 24 Jun 2011)

Abigail Fallis: Fallis in Wonderland
A gigantic diamond dome, shoals of strange skeletal fish and human heads dissected like packs of cards; meet Marcel Duchamp and the surrealists in Fallis in Wonderland, the forthcoming exhibition of sculptures by Abigail Fallis at Opus Fine Art.

Inspired by the Lewis Carroll book, Alice in Wonderland, Fallis uses humour and absurd distortion to draw our attention to the issues that trouble her, such as mass consumerism, scientific distortion and environmental destruction. Materials include bronze, such as Shoal de Lier; a beautiful hanging sculpture comprising bronze-cast fish skeletons; papier mache; glass diamonds; a Victorian doll and a stainless steel urinal which, whilst referencing Duchamp, is also suggestive of Alice and the rabbit hole.
