Hush: Disgraced & Copyright: Romance Fiction

Opus Underground, the urban and contemporary Newcastle art gallery, is invading London Town for its first exhibition in the nation’s capital. Representing Opus Underground will be urban artists Copyright and Hush and the hotly anticipated show will open at the Brick Lane Gallery, Thursday May 29th 2008.

Anthony Chrisp, Opus Underground manager says “It’s important to have this show in London as it’s one of the world’s capitals for street art. You can often find a freshly painted masterpiece on your daily travels around the city.”

London rascal Copyright has been daubing the streets of the UK, from London to Newcastle, with his trademark pink paint for years creating a following of collectors which include Liam Howlett from the Prodigy.  2008 is set to be his year with features in Harpers Bazaar and Modart magazines respectively, as well as being extensively featured in both London Street Art Books.  Additionally, Copyright has featured in a number of Opus Underground group shows in which his work sold out as soon as the doors opened and his last five screen prints have sold out immediately on release. Copyright says “I’m cheating on my girlfriend! I’m in love with hundreds of women that do not exist. I can see their faces. I paint, spray and draw them everyday.”

Hush seems to have come out of nowhere in the last 12 months. After working extensively in Hong Kong and the States as a designer for some of the world’s leading toy companies he gave it all up to return to his first love, painting.  Since then, we have seen a meteoric rise in his popularity with a long line of sold out prints and originals selling faster then he can produce them, and a feature in the Times, Hush really is hot property right now.
